According to Wikipedia A Pearl is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but many other shapes of pearls (baroque pearls) occur. The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty.
Origin:

Greek believes that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the goddess of love shook from her eyes as she was born from the sea.

Arab Legend said that pearls were formed when oysters were lured from the depths of the ocean by the beautiful moon and then swallowed moonlit drops

Ancient Chinese thought these gems came from the brains of dragons.

Colors: Pure white, Pink, Yellow, Gray and Black
