Push Present aka "push gift" or "baby bauble" or for some people call it "baby mama" gift. It is a gift that a new parent/father gives to his wife in honor of giving birth to their child. It may be given before, after or even in delivery room. It's been growing in the United States.
History
According to Wikipedia:
The tradition of gift-giving to commemorate a birth has long roots in England and India. The term "push present' first appeared in a publication in 1992.
A recent survey of more than 30,000 respondents by BabyCenter.com found that 38 percent of new mothers received a gift from their mate in connection with their child. Among pregnant mothers, 55 percent wanted one. About 40 percent of both groups said the baby was ample reward.
2005 ~ Southeast-United States jewelry chain Mayors marketed diamond earrings with the line " She delivered your first born, now give her twins."
2007 ~ Fortunoff, a jewelry and gift chain store, established a push present registry in 2007.
Although there is no official evidence of push presents was invented by the jewelry industry to sell more.
Celebrities that got the presents:
Rachel Zoe has a beautiful baby boy. To celebrate, husband Rodger Berman gave her a "push present" in the form of a 10-carat diamond ring that cost $250,000.
Mariah Carey got a push present, too — a $12,000 pink diamond and sapphire necklace from husband Nick Cannon with the names of their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

Never heard of this trend, but it makes sense. I should get my wife something after she has my baby.
